Vietnam 2005It began as a dream inspired by Albert Schweitzer and his humanitarian work in Gabon. As a 2000-2001 New York City Albert Schweitzer Fellow, I was introduced to the legacy of Albert Schweitzer and how his efforts helped build a hospital in Gabon. My Schweitzer Fellowship Project involved helping the disabled community in New York City to live their lives to the fullest. |
Mexico 2006I met Eileen Wu at New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts during the summer of 2006. Eileen was doing her physical therapy clerkship at the hospital while I was starting my second year of physical medicine and rehabilitation training at Tufts. We had the same passion for helping the disabled and that we were both former Albert Schweitzer Fellows. |
Vietnam 2009Four years had passed since I last visited Vietnam in 2005 before I went back to Boston to resume my medical training. After grasping the medical knowledge to manage patients' disabilities, I realized that other factors can have profound impact for the disabled community. Governmental policies can play a vital role to help decrease medical disabilities. |
Costa Rica 2011Dr. Tran travels to Costa Rica to help deliver wheelchairs to those who are disabled. No man can exist as an island. When like minded people collaborate, amazing things occur. This happens to be the case with regards to Rotary International and The Wheelchair Foundation. |
